The operational hours for the U.S Consulate in Scotland is from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays for any application processes and services that may be required. It is not necessary to make appointments before coming to the U.S Consulate as it works on walk-in basis. However, those who are ill or have a disability can make an appointment outside of normal working hours.
American Citizens needing Visa information should contact the American Embassy situated in London or you can obtain information from American Embassy London Visa Services. The U.S Consulate situated in Edinburgh unfortunately does not handle or process immigrant or non-immigrant visas, telephone or e-mail inquires about visas, green cards, or work permits.
The American Services Section located within the U.S Consulate provides many necessary services for American citizens living in Scotland. If an American tourist or resident should have any problems or is dealing with a serious illness, death or arrest, while in Scotland, such a person should phone the American Citizen Services Unit at 0131-556-8315. Other services that the U.S Consulate in Scotland can assist with include Voting, Social Security and Individual Taxpayer Identification numbers, Consular Report of Death Abroad, Notarial Services (including oaths), Tax Information and Registering your Child as a U.S Citizen.
American residents in Scotland can also access information pertaining to Children's Issues, Commercial Information, Fingerprint and Criminal History, Customs Information, American Community, Genealogy, Medical Information in Scotland, Marriage, Lost and Stolen property, Visas, Travel information, Travel Registration and information about moving to Scotland. The U.S Consulate also deals with any issues or information that are connected with passports. For instance passport renewals, first time U.S passport applications, lost or stolen passports, extra visa pages, second business passports, name changes and dual nationalities.
The U.S. Consulate General is situated at 3 Regent Terrace, Edinburgh, Scotland. The U.S Consulate cannot provide routine services to persons living outside of Scotland. 1# Any job offer WITHOUT at least phone interview is SCAM. 2# ANY phone number with 7... in the UK,e.g +44 7... is a cell phone, there's NO company in the world that doesn't have a land line. 3# If you DID recieve a direct phone call from a company that it's number are NOT clearly displayed on your caller ID, IT IS SCAM. 4# CALL the company and ask about the person who signed the job offer. 5# Check this link: http://fraudwatchers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=26491 it has a useful info. 6# Make a police report, in your countrey, OR, if it's in UK: info@actionfraud.org.uk
