The operational hours for the U.S Consulate in Scotland is from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays for any application processes and services that may be required. It is not necessary to make appointments before coming to the U.S Consulate as it works on walk-in basis. However, those who are ill or have a disability can make an appointment outside of normal working hours.

The U.S Consulate situated in Edinburgh unfortunately does not handle or process immigrant or non-immigrant visas, telephone or e-mail inquires about visas, green cards, or work permits.

The American Services Section located within the U.S Consulate provides many necessary services for American citizens living in Scotland. If an American tourist or resident should have any problems or is dealing with a serious illness, death or arrest, while in Scotland, such a person should phone the American Citizen Services Unit at 0131-556-8315.
