Australian Honorary Consul in Scotland

Including the Australian Honorary Consul there are quite a few foreign consulates situated in Scotland, a number of which are based in Edinburgh, while most of the high commissions and embassies for the United Kingdom are based in London.

The Australian Consulate in Edinburgh only offers a passport interviewing service. If other services are required you will have to contact the Australian High Commission for assistance. The Consulate's hours are: Tuesday from 12noon to 4pm; Wednesday from 1pm to 4pm and Thursday from 10am to 1pm.

The Australian High Commission is situated in London. The High Commission's office hours are from 9am to 11.30am, then 12 noon to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Friday. Many services or information requests by Australian citizens can be sorted with just a phone call to the Australian Commission. If however it is necessary that you visit the office, first contact the Commission and further steps can be taken from there. The Australian Commission provides services like passport, consular, traveling, royal events and election information for Australians citizens overseas.

The Migration Branch of the Australian High Commission looks after clients residing in the Republic of Ireland and in the United Kingdom. The Migration Branch provides Visa and Citizenship Information, which includes ETA, Visitors visas, Working Holiday Maker and Student visas. The branch also deals with forms, fees, Health and Character information. Travelers to Australia can find out all the necessary information from the Migration Branch. They can provide information about visas, things to do in Australia, customs and quarantine and information for new citizens in Australia.

Hi there. With the Australian Federal election now set for the 21st Aug, and as I am in ntransit and on that date will be in Northern Japan, I was wondering whether there is any way I could cast a preballot before leaving the UK for Norway next week (or even wehile in Oslo or Copenhagen where I leave on 6th Aug to catch my flight to Tokyo. I am currently in Glkasgow and was headed to Carlisle tomorrow and eventually back to Newcastle to catch a flight to Norway next Thursday opr Friday. Would appreciaet any advice as to best way to cast my vote. Postal ballot would not be useful as I am travelling and don't have any way to procure the postal papers, other than by email. A shame we still have no on-line option in such cases. Kind regards, Lyndsay Holme (enrolled in Macquarie Electorate in NSW)
