Thrilling Activities at Ice Factor

Kinlochleven is located in the Lachaber region of Scotland, near the towns of Ben Nevis and Glencoe, and is known for its breathtaking mountains, spectacular scenery, colorful history and nature that is nothing short of magical. It is also home to one of the most popular attractions and activity centers in the United Kingdom – Ice Factor. Amongst the rolling hills and snow capped peaks awaits an indoor and outdoor adventure centre that has a wide variety of activities to appeal to all the members of the family.

Ice Factor has created facilities with mountaineering and rock climbing in mind. They wanted to establish a center where advanced outdoor mountaineering enthusiasts can perfect their skills indoors, where first time mountaineers can learn in a safe environment and where indoor climbers will be able to make the smooth transition to outdoor mountaineering. To accomplish these goals, they have acquired the best equipment and the largest facilities in the world.

The ice wall is an intimidating structure. Nearly five times the size of any ice wall found anywhere in the world, is not just there to stun visitors to silence, but provide a learning platform that is as near to reality as possible. More than six hundred square meters of climbing walls are available and at both facilities, qualified staff are on hand to teach, advise and ensure safety. Other indoor facilities at Ice Factor include equipment shops, play areas for children, a bar, a restaurant, a giant swing, abseiling, a steam and sauna room, medical courses, a drying room and a cafeteria. During summer and winter, the centre also offers guided outdoor adventures such as expeditions, mountaineering, ice climbing, nature trails, mountain biking and rock climbing. Biking fanatics will be able to hire mountain bikes at the centre before taking on the slopes and paths.

Ice Factor in Scotland is able to accommodate groups and families that want a change of pace and to share in the joy of discovering new and exciting activities, and can offer serious mountaineers and ice and rock climbers the best facilities available for training. Professional staff and instructors are energetic, vibrant and fully qualified to ensure that everyone, from novice to professional, has a great time exploring new journeys and perfecting the old.
