The Central Scotland Horse Trials

The Central Scotland Horse Trials is a twice a year event which takes competitors through their paces at a tough and consistent level. The first event takes place every spring during the month of May.

There are many people in the world who at some stage of their life have enjoyed the thrill of riding a horse or of being a spectator at a high-stake horse riding competition or horse race. The beauty of these animals easily incites admiration in many a man, woman and child. When it comes to competition, the variety of horse breeds, colors and temperaments only adds to the air of suspense and excitement. Here the wonder of these beautiful creatures is combined with their striking level of skill and the riders own gut determination to outdo all other competitors.

This year the first trial will be held on the 5th and 6th of May 2007 and it promises to be as exciting as last year's competition. The second trial is slated for the 12th and 13th of August. Most riders compete in both events. The beauty of having two events in the same year is that the trials do not only cater to experienced riders who have reached the pinnacle of their chosen event but also to novice riders who are still getting acquainted with the world of competitive horsemanship. Of course, because of the nature of the trial and the setting, the standard even for these novices and pre-novices is high but there is a clear difference in the standard of riding between the various grades.

The Central Scotland Horse Trials are traditionally held at the grounds of Scone Palace in Perthshire and are one of the most anticipated horse events on the Scottish calendar. Spectators come from across the United Kingdom to participate in both events. These traveling competitors are able to find stabling for their horses at the nearby Perth Racecourse while they and their families book out local Bed & Breakfasts and hotel rooms around the town.

This year the cross country course has been partially redesigned to cater to changes in the layout of the park and promises to be as spectacular as ever. So come and watch the trials to discover one of Scotland's greatest horse events of the year - The Central Scotland Horse Trials.
