After that day in 1823 when William Webb Ellis, while attending the Rugby School in England, decided to carry the football instead of kicking it, as was the rule, the game of rugby has cemented its place firmly in the lore of sports. They beat England that day by one goal and a try.

This is the first course of this type in the U.K. and disabled persons can now enjoy a game at their own pace.

The 156-strong field includes some of Europe's most promising players for the $250,000 prize fund, one of the richest on the European Challenge Tour.

Think of Scotland and you think of lochs, castles, kilts, bagpipes and golf. It comes as a surprise to most people to hear about the pioneering research done in Scotland in medical and technological fields. Glasgow may not be as versatile now as Edinburgh is in the art and cultural scene but much of the path breaking research going on in Scotland is being done in Glasgow University.
