The notable event that took place in Glencoe was the slaughter of the MacDonald clan of Glencoe by the hands of Archibald Campbell. Many of the members escaped but some of them didn’t get the chance to leave. As result, 33 men, 2 women, and 2 children’s lives were taken away by the soldiers under Archibald Campbell. The reason why this terrible incident took place in Glencoe, because of the refusal to pledge allegiance to the new monarch by the MacDonald clan. Declining allegiance is what made the monarch take drastic measures against their non-supporters.
